One BIG tomato
This is the largest tomato I’ve ever grown.
It’s big. Really big.
How big?
788 grams (that’s about 1 3/4 pounds). Now that’s a tomato!
It’s a heirloom variety by the name of ‘Pineapple’, grown from seed. I use lots of compost in my tomato beds, provide full sun and adequate water and stand back. This year, for the first time, I added a spoonful of Spanish River Carbonatite (SRC), an agri-mineral fertilizer and soil conditioner, to the planting hole of all my tomato seedlings.
It’s going to make one heck of a sandwich!
Wow, that is a fantastic tomato! How did it taste?
Excellent! This variety of tomato usually has a bit of a “fruity” note to it, and this one was no exception.
